Finding things made easy with the Internet of Things

Gigaset's G-tag literally makes the "Internet of Things" a reality. With the help of the small Bluetooth transmitters, users can find their objects again. Neofonie has further developed the back end, enabling more functions and smooth operation in the cloud.

Neofonie brings Gigaset G-tag into the cloud

With the innovative G-tag, Gigaset has launched a Bluetooth-based transmitter that allows users to keep track of, search for and retrieve objects. With the corresponding G-tag App, the functions can be managed and the G-tag can be located. To increase flexibility and functionality, Neofonie was commissioned to develop a suitable cloud-based backend.

Easy to use

Cloud-based backend solution

“Search. Monitor. Finding. Remembering. Alert” – the functions of Gigaset’s G-tag help saving time. The Bluetooth-based G-tags can be controlled via the G-tag app, which is available from Android 4.4.2 and iOS 7. In order to be able to locate and manage the G-tag from any device, Neofonie developed a scalable and highly available cloud-based back-end solution in which all settings and functions are stored and the Internet of Things is made possible.

Cloud-based data backup

Focus on sharing concept

An essential prerequisite for the solution is the sharing concept. The app user can define individual circles with other app users ("Circles") with whom he can share the G-tags. The configuration of the apps is stored in the cloud so that switching to another smartphone or tablet is smooth and without risk of data loss.

Cross-device

Wide range of functions

Functions that are realized with the help of the cloud include a location function that can be used to locate objects, an alarm function that reports as soon as a marked object leaves or enters the range of the smartphone Bluetooth, and a transfer function that makes it possible to transfer G-tags to other users and manage the alarm function across devices.

With the Gigaset G-tag, the Internet of Things literally becomes reality. The interaction between the small Bluetooth transmitter and the G-tag app makes it easy for users to find their items. Neofonie has developed the appropriate backend so that the user can enjoy the numerous advantages of the G-tag in the cloud.
