Advanced Docker Workshop in Berlin:

Orchestrating containers in production at scale with Docker Swarm

Docker promises to simplify the software development and to accelerate the development and operation. Neofonie invited Jérôme Petazzoni from Docker for a Workshop in Berlin. In a full-day hands-on workshop Jérôme will give an insight on „Orchestration containers in production at scale with Docker Swarm“.
Docker Kompetenz Neofonie

You have installed Docker, you know how to run containers, you have written Dockerfiles to build container images for your applications (or parts of your applications), and you are using Compose to describe your application stack. Your app is running beautifully on your local Docker Engine, but how do you take it to production? How do we go from single-node setup to scalable, highly-available deployments? How do we address production-related requirements like logging, backups, remote access, security upgrades? In this workshop, we will show how to answer those questions using tools from the Docker ecosystem. You will get an inside view and on betas.

  • When: 22.04.2016, 9:00-17:00 (Breakfast at 9 am)
  • Where: Stellwerk Nordbahnhof (IMK), Schwartzkopffstraße 11, 10115 Berlin
  • Tickets: 40 EUR (Docker-Fan), 80 EUR (Regular Ticket) (plus VAT), incl. breakfast, lunch and drinks
  • Registration until: Wednesday, 20.04.2016, 5 pm

Workshop Topics

  • deploying and configuring clusters with the help of Docker Machine
  • setting up multi-host networking between containers using Docker’s overlay network driver
  • implementing centralized logging through logging drivers
  • consolidating a cluster of nodes with Docker Swarm
  • implementing load balancing and service discovery
  • and much more!

Your Trainer

Jérôme-PetazzoniJérôme Petazzoni, Senior Engineer at Docker
Jérôme is senior engineer at Docker, where he helps others to containerize all the things. In another life he built and operated Xen clouds when EC2 was just the name of a plane, developed a GIS to deploy fiber interconnects through the French subway, managed commando deployments of large-scale video streaming systems in bandwidth-constrained environments such as conference centers, operated and scaled the dotCloud PAAS, and various other feats of technical wizardry. When annoyed, he threatens to replace things with a very small shell script. @jpetazzo

On Neo Tech Blog he talks more about „Swarm: The perfect environment to deploy and scale distributed applications in containers

Neofonie – Your Docker Partner

docker Member Neofonie

Neofonie is Docker partner and in close cooperation with the developers of Docker. We provide our expertise in lectures and technical articles, most recently at the DevOpsDays, various Docker Meetups and Developer magazines.

We also use the Docker technology actively in customer projects. The advantages offered by Docker, are manifold.

Workshop Registration

Further Information

The whole workshop will use „real-world“ demo applications with web frontends, web services, background workers, and stateful data stores, in order to cover a wide gamut of use cases.

You won’t need to pre-install Docker before the course: each student will be given credentials to connect to an individual cluster of virtual machines. So all you need is a computer with a SSH client!

The number of participants is limited to 50 people and is set at a minimum of 20 people.

Registration and Payment

For registration and payment we use aminado by XING Events.

Cancellations for participants are not possible. In case for no-shows Neofonie charges 100% of the entry fee. It can be called a substitute participant at any time and at no additional costs.

In case of the short-term cancellation of the workshop beside Neofonie, for example in absence of the trainer or failure to achieve the minimum number of participants we will inform you and refund you already paid participation fee. Further claims are excluded.
